Valentines Day Soap

This fun project is quick and simple to make and produces beautiful loaf soap to slice bars from. They make great gifts.

Materials - The following soap making supplies and materials were used to make this project. For your convenience the list is linked to the products. Clicking on the item name will bring you to that item's page with a full description.

  • Heart Tube Mould
  • Round Tube Mould
  • Pouring Pot
  • Thermometer
  • Goat Milk Glycerine Soap Base
  • Red Dye (used here to get pink colour) or Tomato Dye
  • Scent Oil - Optional

1. Start with an small heart tube mould. 2. Melt the soap base in a double boiler. Add red dye to suit. Stir well then pour into tube mousld cap to a depth of 1/4 inch (7mm.). Place the tube into the cap.
3. Allow to cool until hard. Next fill the tube and allow to cool. 4. Remove the heart soap from the tube mold. If the soap is difficult to remove place the mold in a freezer for several minutes until the mold is cold. This will make de molding easier.
5. Pour white soap base into the round tube mold cap to a depth of 1/4 inch (7mm.). Position the tube into the cap. 6. Immediately mist the heart soap with alcohol and position in the center of the round tube. Allow to cool. The alcohol will improve adhesion with the fill soap.
7. Fill with white soap and allow to cool. 8. Once de-moulded, bars may be sliced off with a sharp knife. To keep the soap looking its best until needed, wrap in plastic cling wrap.
